The 13th edition of the Mondial du Vent will take place on April 11-19, 2009 in Leucate.
The world best kitesurfers and windsurfers will compete during one of the most important events of the year.

For the past two years Leucate and Mondial du Vent has welcomed the unique French stage of the worldwide freestyle Kitesurf World Cup (PKRA). The best riders in the world will be on stage from Apr. 11-16, and will make the show with an amazing collection of ultimate tricks. Aaron Hadlow (England) knows that he will have to fight to keep his prestigious World Champion crown. Sébastien Garat (France), who ranked fifth last year in Leucate, will be fighting for a title at home, over numerous competitors. Along with the competition and the new events of the Mondial du Vent, kitesurfers will ride in a long distance race of 20 km during which amateurs will compete with professionals.

For the very first time during the competition, 70 junior riders coached by ‘mentors’ will participate in a slalom competition. A unique opportunity for the associate organiser, the French Sailing Federation, to spot young talents.
The Orange Speed Crossing will take place from the 16th to the 20th of April. Along with Antoine Albeau, the 5 best windsurfers and the 5 best kitesurfs will compete on original courses on the spot of La Franqui.
